Our project is focusing on the scenario that passengers surrounded by strangers in a public space are vulnerable if they want to have rest. We will design a flexible shield, it can be an object or space for people when surrounded by strangers, a device that can set boundaries while still having “interaction” with outside, receiving information from the outside and recognising the surroundings. Our research methodology is mainly through online surveys, in-person interviews and prototype experiments. In the form of performance, our design will figure out possible improvements in these predicaments and the solutions (wearable devices, infrastructure, interactive installation etc.) will be transferred to props that are abstractly and exaggeratedly displayed. Our vision is to enable a more comfortable environment for people to work, have a rest and socialise through building this shield.
