Yijia He is a jewellery designer from China. She studied Jewellery Design at Sheffield Hallam University in the UK as an undergraduate and is currently studying for an MA in Jewellery Design at the Royal College of Art.
She uses a creative and strategic approach of displacement, reconstruction and visual puns to strip objects of their traditional use and meaning and alter their relationship to these utilitarian objects. By stripping these objects of their inherent function, they are freely viewed within alternative narratives.
The work is used to express the specific problems of life in a poetic way.
