Millie Thomas

Millie studied her BA in Woven Textile Design at Central St Martins, going on to work within the woven textiles industry and establishing her own studio. Millie developed an interest in product design, specifically in creating functional objects that are both beautiful and practical. She found herself drawn to the idea of creating objects that not only serve a purpose but also bring joy to the people who use them. Seeing product design as a natural progression from her background in weaving, Millie decided to pursue a masters in Design Products here at the Royal College of Art.

Through her studies, Millie has been able to combine her love for colour and pattern with her interest in materiality - using a playful approach to create functional objects. In her eyes, a successful design is one that not only functions well, but also enhances the user’s experience. Millie sees product design as another avenue to express her passion for pattern, colour and materiality to create beautiful and functional objects.
