@xoxohks

Interdisciplinary Artist Harpreet Kaur Sandhu was born in Malaysia , obtained a BBA from Parsons School of Design in New York City and resides in Southern California. Part of The Women Who Draw Collective of Illustrators, Harpreet uses all forms of media to explore Social and Cultural topics around Gender, Race and Society. Trained as a trauma informed Yoga Instructor she has brought her lens of the somatic practice into that of her studio practice. Decoloniality and ways of seeing the world through a informed lens of the marriage of Indigenous wisdoms and science - 'everything is equally evolved ' and decolonizing our practices around cultural practices in our greater society are often what leads her explorations in a mysterious subconscious sentimentality.

Her work is never restricted to the frame or canvas, working predominantly with free form paper, embroidery , fabric, weaving tapestry, print, photography and sculpture. Exploring Geographical, Cultural and Humanist Dreams, memories, gender roles, as well as questioning structural hierarchies through the works of pop culture, kitsch and print while re establishing the practice of craft into a conceptual structure through context and preservation of technique.
