Blanche Malet Le Lay Salvi

A 23 year old women with brown mid-length hair, bangs, blue eyes and red lipstick, smiling at the camera.

Blanche is a French multimedia animator. Before studying in MA Animation at the Royal College of Art, she studied Greek and Latin literature at La Sorbonne in Paris (2018-2021), and completed a Graduate Diploma in Art and Design, Communication pathway, at the RCA (2022). She is particularly interested in themes including old age, the process of grief, expression of emotions, religion, spirituality and the complexity of relationships between humans. Her previous animation projects dealt with ageing and memories in 'petite vieille' (2022) and loss and technology, in 'tethered' (2022). Her techniques of choice are 2D hand-drawn digital and analogue animation, as well as stop-motion puppet animation. But she is also interested and curious about other analogue animation techniques such as collages, paint on glass or stitch animation.

For the collaborative Across RCA project 'OCD: Debunking Misconceptions Together', she was in charge of interviewing participants suffering with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, as well as making the puppets, animating them and editing the final video. Her current project is an auto-ethnography multimedia animation on the process of grief and trauma.
