Hui (Amy) Li (b.1997 Guangzhou, China) is interested in creating self-reflective paintings, expressing visually the hidden side of human relationships and emotions as well as things that are too difficult to put into words. This visual expression of emotion and language is the key for Amy to communicate with the audience.

After living almost 6 years in London, Amy found out the only way to maintain a long-term art practice is to find one’s passions. Therefore she began to focus on herself and tried to get to know her identity better by making work.

Being a sentimental person allowed Amy to relate her emotions towards herself and others easily. Amy explores questions about the colour red and the use of materials in painting that visually express the idea of hidden self-identity and memories. Red is a colour that speaks for passions, suffering and beyond, a cycle of renewal, a way of reflecting.
