Headshot Image

Zakia Ahmed’s work is focused on exploring spaces of transgression and exception and the social, cultural impacts of architecture, extracting and analysing the role architecture plays in the way we use buildings in our city, specifically the relationship between power, gender and the built environment. Throughout her work, she challenges the role of the architect, how buildings fall into specific categories and who holds the right to use them.

Situated in London, Zakia completed her undergraduate studies at Manchester School of Architecture, followed by a professional role in practice participating in community, commercial, residential and engagement projects.
