Hi, lam Xiaochen. My work focuses on Tibetan culture and traditional thangka painting.
Traditional thangkas show Elysium in Buddhism by painting natural elements such as flowers, water, clouds, and fire in their most perfect state of stillness. I distort the life processes of the natural elements in thangka to visualize the 'moment' and to show this fluid state of the soul conveyed by the thangka.
I am interested in the transitions from 2D to 3D. I rely on digital technology to create moving images and materials for physical performance. Showing the 'momentary' beauty of matter from birth to dissipation. The aim is to create pieces with kinetic properties to convey a Buddhist feeling.
